Tenerife Beaches
(Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain)
Tenerife is famous for its legendary beaches, with miles of sandy coastline and many popular beaches suitable for families and nudists. Beaches around Tenerife offer a range of facilities and amenities, with sun beds and shades, volleyball nets, swimming pools and refreshment kiosks.
Many of the best hotels and restaurants in Tenerife are situated close to the beaches, particularly around Las Américas Beach, Los Cristianos Beach and Teresitas Beach. Water sports are popular around Tenerife's many beaches, with surfing and windsurfing conditions being ideal off the beaches of El Bullullo, El Médano and Martiánez. Here are Tenerife's main beaches and any relevant beach amenities available.
Tenerife Beaches: Los Cristianos Beach (Playa de Los Cristianos) - Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain
Part of a major holiday resort area, Los Cristianos Beach is one of the resort's premier beaches and is around 400 metres / 1,312 feet long by 100 metres / 328 feet wide. The calm waters make this part of the coast ideal for bathing and swimming, being perfect for families and young children.
Tenerife Beaches: Las Américas Beach (Playa de Las Américas) - Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain
A popular tourist hotspot in Tenerife, visitors to the Playa de Las Americas are always well catered for, with excellent amenities and beach facilities nearby. Comprising a number of small, sandy beaches protected by breakwaters, Las Américas Beach offers an array of water sports, recreational activities, restaurants and kiosks.
Tenerife Beaches: Jardin Beach (Playa de Jardin) - Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain
Stretching for around 1,500 metres / 4,920 feet, Jardin Beach can be found along the coastline of Tenerife's Puerto de la Cruz. Recently refreshed with huge quantities of natural fine sand, this long beach is split into three main areas by large rocks and is ideal for sunbathing, swimming and general beach fun.
Tenerife Beaches: El Bullullo Beach (Playa de El Bullullo) - Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain
El Bullullo is a fairly quiet beach, with only basic amenities. However, the spectacular views and clean, fine sand are the beaches main attractions. Strong waves are often suitable for surfing here.
Tenerife Beaches: Martiánez Beach (Playa de Martiánez) - Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain
One of the most popular and impressive beaches in Tenerife, Martiánez Beach is situated in the Puerto de la Cruz area and features fine black sand. The beach is best known for being home to the Costa Martiánez complex, created by famous Canarian artist César Manrique, with large swimming pools, an artificial lake, colourful planting and stylish sculptures. Martiánez Beach also features favourable conditions for surfing.
Tenerife Beaches: El Médano Beach (Playa de El Médano) - Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain
Offering some of the best windsurfing conditions on the island, El Médano Beach can be found close to the airport. During the year, many notable windsurfing championships ships are held at Tenerife's El Médano Beach, with windsurfing equipment available for hire or purchase nearby.
Tenerife Beaches: Roque Beach (Playa de Roque) - Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain
Roque Beach is known for its dark sand and strong currents, which are often suitable for experienced surfers. A popular spot for sunbathing and relaxing, Roque Beach contains a number of waterfront restaurants and coffee shops, offering excellent views of the coastline.
Tenerife Beaches: Teresitas Beach (Playa de Teresitas) - Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain
Many years ago, Teresitas Beach was greatly enlarged and has become one of Tenerife's most popular beaches, as a direct result of these improvements. Featuring golden sand, a breakwater, large palm trees and many recreational activities, Teresitas Beach is around 1,500 metres / 4,920 feet long and stands in the island's Santa Cruz de Tenerife area.
Tenerife Beaches: San Marcos Beach (Playa de San Marcos) - Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain
